Abandon the Spatial Mode!

When it comes to new ideas, people struggle behind a jamboree of boring buzzwords, catch phrases, and slogans, none of which mean anything, apparently not even to the journalists who abuse them at the cost of our ability to understand. What the hell are they talking about ?!?! People are sick of “default interfaces” that don’t “jibe”.

They tell us. Lest we be confused, they explain. “An interface can be a metaphor, sometimes powerful enough to produce a paradigm shift. But at some point, the paradigm shift lost its luster, and the groundbreaking metaphor became a mere collection of dreams and clichés. A crude approximation of reality.” Now isn’t that nice! But we ARE confused. Yet, we read on.

“Our default interface no longer jibes with the scale of information that confronts us on a daily basis”

What? I don’t understand. I’m afraid of what I don’t understand.

Lest we be afraid, they tell us that there “will come a renaissance of the interface in which the artistry of programmers and tech designers will inspire new modes of thinking”

Well hurry up already. Bring it to the people in ways that make sense. And you, people. You have a responsibility to yourselves not to tolerate a bunch of bullshit. People that don’t make sense don’t deserve attention, plain and simple. Don’t just assume you’re stupid. That’s how they plan to leave you behind.
