UbuWeb

UbuWeb is a completely independent resource,” and that’s really about all that the website has to say about itself, at first glance, but here’s what I have to say about it. UbuWeb rocks my world! If UbuWeb were a girl, I would ask her out for a date, and do my best to get a kiss. If UbuWeb were a bowl of ice cream… I don’t know where I’m going with this.

UbuWeb has all kinds of poems, writings, cultural artifacts, recordings and just plain interesting stuff. Its like a trip to a really good library. The main page has an exhaustive list of these sorts of things, but then there are the Artist Index and the recent additions lists.

UbuWeb is one of my top ten favorite webpages already!

UbuWeb actually does have something to say in the way of an introduction.

UbuWeb posts much of its content without permission; we rip full-length CDs into sound files; we scan as many books as we can get our hands on; we post essays as fast as we can OCR them. And not once have we been issued a cease and desist order. Instead, we receive glowing e-mails from artists, publishers and record labels finding their work on UbuWeb thanking us for taking an interest in what they do; in fact, most times they offer UbuWeb additional materials. We happily acquiesce and tell them that UbuWeb is an unlimited resource with unlimited space for them to fill. It is in this way that the site has grown to encompass hundreds of artists, thousands of files and several gigabytes of poetry.
