It's funny to me. Reading this entry sounded a lot like reading books about how to set up a living space for your new pet. It sounds a little hamster cage-ish (make sure food pellets are stored away from water so they will stay dry, put in fresh bedding of wood shavings or newspaper, give him a little hide-out so he can have some alone time). But, the set-up of a room does have a lot to do with being productive, I think.

I'm not so interested in the "Commanding" of the position, as much as I am interested in the feeling of being supported from all sides, as part of feeling comfortable in general.

I like to sit on the floor when I write, sometimes. If I try to write standing up, I'll only pace the room or walk away.

Perhaps it is superstitious, but, really, I need a better space.

The Commanding Position is almost as muchabout the people who come in as it is about the people who reside in it. It gives supplicants the chance to feel suppliant.

Centers are a good idea. I have set things up so I can write when I feel like standing, or when I feel like sitting. I will note that putting a desk against a wall is particularly good if there's a decent amount of traffic in the hallway.

I have often thought it odd how superstitious we can become in our attempts to behaviourally condition ourselves to think or create better. Does that make me less superstitious? No. But I can still laugh at it :-). We can control our environment, to an extent, and perhaps because it is easier to control, we find it easier to believe that it does really make a difference :-).
